Early morning departure. Your adventure begins with a scenic drive from Chania towards Heraklion. Along the way, you’ll enjoy the beautiful views of Crete’s countryside, dotted with olive groves, mountains, and charming villages. The journey to Heraklion takes about 2 hours, giving you a glimpse of Cretan life beyond the main tourist attractions.
First stop at Heraklion City, the bustling capital of Crete. Here, you’ll have time to explore the charming streets, admire the Venetian architecture, and visit local shops and cafés. Your guide will give you a brief introduction to the city's history, including the impressive Heraklion Fortress and the vibrant Morosini Fountain. During your free time in Heraklion city for those who want to dive deeper into Cretan history, there is an optional visit to the Archaeological Museum of Heraklion. Known as one of Greece's most important museums, it houses an extensive collection of Minoan artifacts, including pottery, sculptures, and the famous Phaistos Disc. Visitors can explore the museum at their own pace and marvel at the treasures of ancient Crete.
After your free time in Heraklion you will head to Knossos Palace, the largest and most important archaeological site of the Minoan civilization. A guided tour through the ruins will introduce you to the ancient palace, thought to have been the seat of King Minos. Learn about the fascinating history, myths, and discoveries surrounding this ancient site, including the labyrinth and the famous frescoes that still amaze visitors today. You’ll have plenty of time to explore the ruins and take in the incredible views of the surrounding area.
After a day filled with history and exploration, the tour concludes with a relaxing drive back to Chania, arriving in the late afternoon. You’ll leave with unforgettable memories of Crete’s ancient past and the lively energy of Heraklion.

Itinerary
Knossos Palace
Knossos was the most prominent centre of the Minoan Civilisation, one of the magnificent civilisations of human kind. The renowned ancient city with the palace is the largest and most typical archaeological site ever discovered on Crete. It is located at a distance of 6 km SE of Heraklion amidst olive groves, vineyards and cypress forests. According to tradition, it was the seat of the legendary king Minoa. Apart from being the royal family's residence, it was also the administrative and religious centre for the whole region. The Palace is also connected with thrilling legends, such as the myth of the Labyrinth with the Minotaur, and the story of Daedalus and Icarus.
